Guest post by Spring CUE featured speaker Sylvia Duckworth

Woo hoo! I’m thrilled to be coming to Palm Springs as a Featured Speaker! This will be my first Spring CUE and I can’t wait to share my love of sketchnoting with everyone who comes to my sessions.

Here are the descriptions:

Intro to Sketchnoting (Part 1)

In this session, I will explain the rationale behind sketchnoting and how to set up a doodling culture in your classroom. We will scaffold sketchnoting skills with fun doodling challenges as we learn how to draw many high-frequency icons. If you think you can’t draw, this session will prove you wrong! Please come with something to draw with (pen and paper or digital).

Sketchnoting Deep-Dive (Part 2)

In this Deep-Dive session, we will continue to build our visual dictionary with more advanced techniques of sketchnoting. We will learn about other elements of sketchnoting, such as how to draw different fonts, stickmen, faces, bullet points, dividers, containers and banners. We will also learn some tips and tricks for sketchnoting in live-time.

In addition, please join me at the “Sketchnote Garden” on Friday and Saturday as we participate in a collaborative sketchnoting session.

Please note for my sessions: For digital drawing, please pre-download a drawing app. Some of my favorite apps include:

Procreate ($)
Tayasui Sketches School

Tayasui Sketches
Autodesk Sketchbook (available for all devices)

At the end of each session, there will be a draw for 3 copies of my book “How to Sketchnote: A Step-by-Step Manual for Teachers and Students.”

I hope to see you there!
