Teachers Pay Teachers may be getting another run for their money soon.

This past week, Amazon announced plans to open a new platform they are calling Amazon Ignite – a program that will allow select educators to sell their online teaching resources via Amazon.

Unlike it’s controversial predecessor, Inspire, Amazon Ignite has vowed to uphold a stringent vetting process for any potential sellers, to help weed out potential copyright infringement. [Inspire’s launch in 2016 was met with harsh criticism over the fact that Amazon had failed to vet materials before launching them on the site. Hundreds of online resources were posted by sellers claiming the resources as their own. In response to the teacher complaints, the site was taken down and then later relaunched.]

Amazon Ignite is – at this point – by invitation only. Educators who are interested in selling on this new platform are being asked to “request an invitation” via the Ignite website.
